In 2022, we launched KLUB22, a temporary venue in the former cafeteria of Aarhus' old county hospital. This space was transformed into a vibrant club environment, hosting events that challenged conventional nightlife norms by emphasizing representation, inclusion, and safety. KLUB22 became known for its eclectic programming, featuring genres like drum and bass, dancehall, and afrobeat, and for creating an atmosphere where all attendees felt welcome.
“A new temporary cultural space, that represents minorities and underrepresented music genres in the nightlife.”
Although KLUB22 was a temporary project, its impact on Aarhus' cultural landscape was significant. By repurposing an unused space into a lively cultural venue, we demonstrated the potential of community-driven initiatives to revitalize urban areas and foster artistic innovation. The success of KLUB22 has inspired ongoing conversations about the importance of inclusive spaces in the arts and continues to influence new projects within the city.
“What you cannot find in the nightlife in Aarhus is a place you come to party with others, and not next to each other. A club where you step into a stimulating curated experience, and where the drinking culture is challenged in favor of engaging and experimental experiences in the nightlife.”
The essence of KLUB22 was to create quality content in the nightlife in Aarhus, by creating a new cultural space that was more inclusive and responsible without any discrimination.
